Chaleur Sawmills supports the sports activities of the region and sponsors a sign at the Sportplex Richelieu Nigadoo.
Chaleur Sawmills encourageous the children of their employees by sponsoring the boy's elite volleyball team of L'École "La Croisée" of Robertville. Monica Thériault has been the coach since the beginning of the school year 2004-2005.
Once again, Chaleur Sawmills has renewed its five (5) year commitment to Ducks Unlimited. The adopt-a-wing program allows Chaleur Sawmills to sponsor field trips to area wetlands for three (3) local schools; Belledune, Jacquet River, and Bathurst.
Chaleur Sawmills' has recently completed a major capital expansion. This modernisation included the installation of a 200 000 bft kiln, a new sawmill line and a new debarker in the sawmill. As well, we have installed a grader optimiser along with 50 sorting bins, and a bar coding system at our planer. The start-up began May 3rd , and it's progressing well.
Last season, Chaleur Sawmills Woodland Division has recovered over 1000 liters of used oil in order to transport them to an approved recycling facility. It has also recovered 70 oil filters and close to two 45 gallons containers of contaminated rags. The protection of the environment by safely eliminating dangerous products is very important for Chaleur Sawmills. We also would like to thanks all forest workers for there great collaboration in this recovering program.
Chaleur Sawmills' Woodlands Division recently announced that its Environment Management System has been registered to ISO 14001-96 (see section on Environment).
